The Cool Way or The Fool Way?

The Cool Way or The Fool Way?

The Cankering Lifestyle choice!

We often blame destiny when we face challenges whether relating to health, relationships or finances or even during natural disasters and other such crisis. What we fail to realize is it’s often our choices that put us into desperate circumstances down the road. When we don’t take responsibility for our choices, we are predisposing ourselves to fall ill or into harm.

Today modern lifestyle is a major factor that affects susceptibility to many diseases. Improper diet, alcohol, drug and other substance abuse, smoking, late night parties, lack of exercise, etc. increases the risk of developing certain diseases.

Palpable threat hanging in the air

These so called non-communicable diseases are in reality communicable as an individual’s so called show biz life is magnetically attracting others to also live the same way, no matter how many shallow choices they need to make in the process. Young population calling it the “modern” way is in reality a “destructive” way to live. People are losing their mental balance because they try to prove themselves to be living a glamorous lifestyle or for that matter a successful life. We are witnessing more suicide’s today because of peer pressure, harassment, inability to cope with anxiety, depression etc. Constant doze of anxiety, mental harassment, work or peer pressure, the mad race of running behind numbers has increased health hazards and subsequently increased illness like blood pressure, heart attacks, diabetes, etc. People are eating more sweats to subside the negative feelings and to instantly boost mood and spirit. Constant exposure to stress leads to body’s immunity levels being lowered thereby increasing the chances of it collapsing by even the slightest negative influence.

Our increased dependency on processed food due to hectic schedule of pursuing career goals is considered a priority. No one has time to spend on self-care, working on their physical, mental and emotional wellbeing. Technological advancements have birthed a more sedentary lifestyle resulting in increased rates of obesity and obesity attracts other ailments or makes the healing process slow. Obesity is one of the primary causes of Type II diabetes. The negative effect as a result is not just restricted to adults but children are entering the bandwagon in an alarming number. When you use headphones constantly and are consistently exposed to loud music, it causes inflammation, irritation and infection in the ear canal. Today’s generation is addicted to a lifestyle of disorder.

The Comparative Threat!

Comparison is the greatest source of depression these days. People are spending more on standard of living merely to flaunt their rich lifestyle and when unable to match the current trends, they fall in the trap of feeling less than. They fail to realize that life is much deeper than what meets the eye. Instead of living purposely and engaging oneself in activities they truly love, people are too focused on arranging the superficial stuff to appear successful. People are using social media handles to show off skills and activities by paying for videos that go viral and show how good they are at certain activities. In reality they don’t know anything about it and are not good at it in any real sense. All this merely to flaunt and show off.

Shallow lifestyle choices are actually the fashion statement for the young minds today which are too conditioned to see beyond the illusion of glamour, money and success. What appears to be gold is simply gold plated.

The Identity Crisis!

People are wandering far from their core identity. They are not interested in making real friends and long-term relationships. They believe in showing they have influential individuals in their circle to call as friends so that they can prove themselves as someone powerful. They are more focused on getting large numbers of followers and truly not bothered about the quality of people in their group. Their concern is only with the face-value of things and people.

Nobody takes the time to answer the deeper questions such as what is it that you are truly passionate about and are ready to work for without any monetary gain? How many meaningful relations you have in life; how many people will stand by you when you truly need them? Why is “fakeness” being the underline statement of communication? Are people ready to go out of league merely to save humanity? Isn’t civility more important than artificial superiority? Is empathy losing its way in the work culture? Are personal relations being considered as an opportunity to gain influence rather than being simply a matter of heart? Why is ungrateful attitude so common? Why simplicity of living being considered as a weakness and the so-called complex life of late-night parties and reckless living considered as a mark of happiness and success? Why is it that the place of residence of an individual decides the parameter of awareness of an individual? Why is it that only academics decide the intelligence of an individual and no other skills? Here, it’s important to consider the fact that are we manipulating others or in reality are we betraying ourselves, simply to fit in the status quo?

Power of Habits

These occurrences are primarily based on the domination of daily habits of people and because of an inappropriate relationship with oneself, other people and their environment. Highly conscious people know that any big damage can be saved through small intentional choices. Good habits, proper diet and exercise regime, healthy mindset and high emotional intelligence along with a spirit of empathy can safeguard an individual from self-sabotage and put forward in the stream of real happiness and satisfaction not just for oneself but for others too.

Its time we need to focus not on the reality in front of us but on a greater vision that may not be reality yet but if offered a fair chance can turn out to be appreciative on a larger scale.

Crumbling for the sake of validation

People are crumbling for the sake of validation from others. They are unable to remember and tap into their inner magnificence. The change in the culture driven partly by technology and partly by the Covid 19 pandemic is increasing remote area work, work from home and entrepreneurship because of joblessness and other difficulties like travel etc. This change has resulted in overdose of feeling isolated and restricted. The inability to create a social life for oneself has enhanced the dependency on social media handles resulting in restless behavior pattern, distractive mindsets, inability to focus and psychological imbalance because of constant comparative analysis whether personally or professionally.

Empathy and civility should be the foundation of any interaction or dealings but the mad race of proving one worth and achieving the illusioned vison of success has reduced the standards. However, the real parameter of success should be to live with integrity, courage and kindness.

Isn’t it time we start reconsidering what we believe to be the matrix of success and happiness and offer a deeper look into the meaning and perspective with which we view our significance and the significance of the things around us?
